POSITION SUMMARY:

The Athletic Trainer will diagnose and treat injuries to bone and muscle under the direction of the Physical Therapist.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates an athleteโ€™s physical condition when an injury has occurred and implements rehabilitation and or psychical therapy programs for specific injuries.
  • Informs coaching staff of athlete's health/injury status and projected return date.
  • Coordinates with individual or team physicians on matters of protocol relative to the specific injury.
  • Keeps record of treatments and diagnostics.
  • May provide advice to coaches, regarding safety in weight training or other athletic programs.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education / Training:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in exercise science or related field with concentration in athletic training.
  • One or two years in Athletic Training setting
  • Current CPR Certificate

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Sound Judgement
  • Decision-making skills
  • Problem/Situation Analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Varied activities including sitting, walking, squatting, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching.
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to lift 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to use a variety of equipment including telephone, writing instruments, PC, fax and physical therapy equipment.
