Our team has spent the past two decades providing environmental, utility vegetation management (UVM), software and sustainability services. We are fortunate to be a part of the Wright Service Corp. family, which has helped us establish a strong foundation for continued growth and success.

Through a strategic alignment of values and goals, four Wright Service Corp. entities joined and integrated into one, operating as Eocene Environmental Group. These four entities are:

  • Forestry & Utility Division

  • Environmental Division

  • Technology & Innovation Division

  • Sustainability Division

JOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Specialist I is responsible for participating in a wide range of projects which may include Asbestos Inspections, Asbestos Abatement Observations, IAQ Investigations, and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Conducting industrial hygiene assessments for chemical and noise exposures

  • Conduct research, complete reviews, and compile reports

  • Site visits to include field sampling, data collection, field equipment operation, and other field activities associated with environmental projects

  • With support and guidance from Environmental Specialist II/III and Senior Environmental Specialists, works independently on projects ranging from small to medium and assists senior staff on larger projects

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's and Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownership

  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures

  • Position will require occasional travel

  • 30%-50% travel including some overnight travel within the United States and occasional nights/weekends may be required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or similar field. In the absence of a degree, equivalent combination of education, training, or experience

  • 0-2 years' experience in the environmental field

  • Must be capable of working while wearing a negative pressure respirator without restriction

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office products, including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and time management skills

  • Be organized and detail oriented

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Experience with building systems and mapping software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Iowa Asbestos Inspector License (if not held, must be able and willing to obtain)

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (if not held, must be able and willing to obtain)

  • Certifications within the fields of asbestos, lead-based paint, radon, and OSHA

  • Prior experience in consulting

  • Experience with building systems and mapping software

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, on occasion

  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions in outdoor and indoor environments

  • Must be comfortable utilizing hand tools and ladders to perform inspection activities
