Job description

The Department of Medicine at the University of the Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, TN, is seeking a dynamic clinician researcher with excellent clinical, educational, leadership, and communication skills to lead a well-established Division of Hematology/Oncology and be a distinguished leader within the Cancer Institute at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The successful applicant will provide strategic direction in establishing an ACGME-accredited medical oncology fellowship and in developing a flourishing clinical education and research program to advance the tripartite healing, education, and discovery mission of the Medical Center. The position offers a balance of clinical, administrative, research and scholarly activities.
The outpatient clinical operation of the hematology/oncology division is within the Cancer Institute, which is the largest provider of cancer care in East Tennessee. The Cancer Institute registered over 70,000 patient visits with over 2700 new cancer patients diagnosed annually. In-hospital consultations are provided at the Medical Center, a leading regional academic medical center.
Knoxville is ideally located in beautiful East Tennessee near the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, affording metropolitan conveniences coupled with rural charm. Knoxville is a rapidly-growing Southeastern metropolitan city which is known for its quality of education, affordable cost of living and temperate climate, with a perfect mix of city amenities and congestion-free living and is the home of the University of Tennessee main campus.
Qualified applicants must possess an MD or MD/PhD degree or equivalent with current ABIM board certification in hematology and/or oncology and have at least 5 years of post-fellowship experience with an illustrious track record of patient care, research, educational, and academic accomplishments in addition to strong administration and leadership abilities that will support appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidatesโ€™ qualifications and clinical experience. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure in the State of Tennessee.
