JOB TITLE: Epidemiologist III
POSITION NUMBER: 2510-CORVD-EPI-III
POSITION LOCATION: Atlanta, GA, USA
ANTICIPATED START DATE: 2 weeks after candidate identification
TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
IHRC Inc. seeks a dedicated and experienced Epidemiologist III to support our clients at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD). CORVD's mission is to provide the health of people by preventing illness, disability and death from respiratory viruses through public health science and practice in the United States and globally. This position is needed for accomplishing CORVD's mission. Epidemiologist III will provide technical assistance to support regional capacity to conduct surveillance, detection, and response to events of public health significance.
  • Provide technical oversight and coordinate collection, management, and analysis of data from COVID-19 investigations.
  • Develop, revise, and review study protocols, questionnaires, and other data collection forms.
  • Ensure data integrity through quality assurance guidance and dataset management.
  • Maintain IRB approvals and provide technical support for collaborating institutions.
  • Liaise with investigators, coordinators, and laboratory personnel.
  • Perform epidemiological analyses using SAS or R, including multivariate modeling and survival analysis.
  • Support survey design and analysis, including sampling methodology and power calculations.
  • Clean data and develop reports in DCIPHER.
  • Assist with database development and outbreak response analysis.
  • Develop data dashboards and visualizations to support programmatic work.
  • Align data processes with CDC data modernization initiatives.
  • Communicate analytic results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare data presentations and scientific manuscripts.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of the Division Quality Management Plan.
  • Assist with internal and external quality audits and corrective actions.
  • Support behavioral science research and reporting related to vaccine acceptance and demand.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and evaluate interventions.

Requirements
  • MS with 10+ years' experience or PhD with 7-10+ years' experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with clinical data.
  • Knowledge of R, SAS, or other statistical programming packages.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, and other data visualization and/or management systems.
  • Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Mail).
  • Ability to work in a public health emergency response environment.
  • Ability to identify gaps in existing resources.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Interpersonal communication: telephone, email, and business etiquette.
  • Strong proofreading skill and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working with CDC staff at multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience in facilitating quick turn-around for complex documents.

Language Skills:
  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English
