Job Title: Pet Nutritionist
Job Description
The Pet Nutritionist serves as the sole nutritional authority, ensuring AAFCO-aligned nutritional compliance and overall formulation integrity within the organization. In this role, you will collaborate closely with technologists and leadership to evaluate and refine developed formulas, ensuring they are nutritionally balanced and compliant with regulatory and claim requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work within formulation systems such as ASC5 nutrition software.
- Support testing procedures for new products and communicate directly with customers regarding formulation adjustments.
- Prepare ingredient statements, feeding instructions, and labeling support documentation.
- Review customer labels for compliance.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 30–60 active formulas at varying stages, including early development and pre-production readiness.
- Develop pre-production trial plans and investigate novel ingredients and emerging nutritional trends.
- Establish and monitor testing procedures for palatability and animal studies to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with technologists on physical product attributes and contribute to the development and interpretation of regulatory guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Nutrition, or Companion Animal Nutrition with 3-4 years of experience in pet nutrition.
- Master's degree in Animal Science, Nutrition, or Companion Animal Nutrition with 5 years of experience in pet food nutrition.
- PhD in Animal Science, Nutrition, or Companion Animal Nutrition with 0-2 years of experience in pet food nutrition.
Work Environment
The role offers flexibility with a potential for fully remote work if you have 3-5 years of experience in a pet nutritionist role. Candidates with less than 3 years of experience, are encouraged to work onsite. The job involves significant computer work, with opportunities for evaluating samples both in the office and remotely. Onsite visits are encouraged once every six weeks for a Monday to Thursday period and participation in trade shows and important customer visits is expected. The workday starts between 7-9am and ends between 3:30-5:30pm.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
