What does a pharmacy manager do?

A pharmacy manager is a pharmacist whose role goes beyond general pharmacy, into overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility. In this role, you are also in charge of ensuring the correct medications are in stock, managing inventory levels, and checking that prescribed medications are delivered to patients correctly. The everyday duties of a pharmacy manager focus on inventory and order as well as scheduling shifts for other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on staff. Your additional responsibilities may include training new technicians and maintaining records for all prescriptions that each pharmacist fills within your pharmacy.

What is a pharmacy manager?

A Pharmacy Manager is a licensed pharmacist responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a pharmacy. They manage staff, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, handle budgeting and inventory, and provide excellent customer service. Their role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency, safety, and profitability of the pharmacy.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pharmacy manager?

To thrive as a Pharmacy Manager, you need a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, state licensure, and strong knowledge of pharmaceutical care and business operations.
