Marshall Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Procurement Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight of medication procurement, inventory management, and purchasing operations across the health system.
This position will work closely with pharmacy leadership, pharmacy buyers, informatics, supply chain, finance, and other teams to standardize purchasing practices, improve inventory management, support formulary implementation, and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide functional leadership and guidance to pharmacy buyers across MHN facilities.
- Develop and implement standardized pharmacy purchasing policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Oversee medication procurement, inventory management, and purchasing initiatives across the health system.
- Monitor purchasing data, contract compliance, medication spend, inventory performance, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support formulary standardization, medication substitutions, manufacturer changes, and NDC updates.
- Coordinate enterprise drug shortage management, medication transfers, and inventory redistribution.
- Support medication recall activities and ensure appropriate communication and follow-up.
- Collaborate with pharmacy informatics on medication databases, EMR medication files, barcode scanning, and pharmacy technology.
- Coordinate annual pharmacy physical inventories across MHN facilities.
- Develop and monitor performance metrics related to purchasing, inventory, savings, waste reduction, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in system committees, workgroups, and strategic pharmacy initiatives.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Junior college/technical school education preferred.
- Active, unrestricted WV Pharmacy Technician registration required or eligible to obtain.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
- Five years of hospital pharmacy experience required.
- Two years of pharmacy purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or pharmacy supply chain experience required.
- Experience with pharmacy wholesaler ordering systems, inventory management software, and automated medication distribution technologies.
- Experience managing medication inventory, purchasing workflows, drug shortages, and contract purchasing in an acute care hospital environment.
