Job description

MHC Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team at the MHC Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 16 sites in Tucson and Pima County.  MHC Healthcare is building a world-class integrated health care system that is committed to caring for special populations, and focused on improving health outcomes for our patients  The Pharmacist, promotes and restores patients’ health by dispensing medications as prescribed by the health care provider; supervising the day-to-day operation of the Pharmacy area; contributing to long-term planning for the Clinic; directing and developing staff; and providing physical and psychological support for patients.  Hours may vary, depending upon clinic needs.

The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

  • Pharmacy degree – Bachelor’s degree; required, PharmD; preferred.
  • Current Arizona State Registered Pharmacist (RPh) License; required.
  • Immunization certification; preferred.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish; preferred.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience as a Pharmacist in a Clinical/Hospital setting preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Complete knowledge of State and Federal regulations.
  • Immunization certification preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes rapport with patients by dispensing medications as ordered by health care providers; educating patients on the proper use of medications; answering questions regarding the medications dispensed.
  • Answers telephone and assists patients’ with questions or concerns in a professional manner.
  • Maintains Pharmacy guidelines by updating policies and procedures.
  • Maintains Pharmacy operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing programs, and operational and personnel polices and procedures.
  • Identifies patient medication order or prescription processing problems, proposes alternative solutions and therapeutic interchange, implements the resolution chosen, and conducts follow-up.
  • Assures quality of care by enforcing adherence to State Board of Pharmacy requirements and those of other governing agencies.
  • Complies with Federal and State statutes, rules, and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy.
  • Collects and collates information used in auditing Controlled Substance Administration Records (Czar’s) to assure legal compliance and identifies deficiencies.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, following medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Maintains clinic reputation by assuring that all patient and company information is kept confidential.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by studying usage reports; identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies and approving requisitions and cost allocations.
  • Maintains Clinic standards of care by adhering to the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and those of other governing agencies.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
