Highlights:

Summary: The Pharmacist shall be responsible for medication order entry, preparation and distribution for patients. The Pharmacist will help to ensure the appropriate prescription and administration of medications to patients within the institution. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.The Pharmacy Technician shall be responsible to perform most of the technical functions involved in the medication use process. This individual shall assist the Pharmacist in the preparation and compounding of pharmaceutical products, assessing inventory of pharmacy products, and resolving problems with insurance claims as they arise during the dispensing function, as applicable to location. Cross training in one key functional area [examples provided in Technician Career Ladder]. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.Education / Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy required, PharmD degree preferred. PGY1 residency or 3 or more years of inpatient practice preferred.License / Certification: Active RPH required, Active Alabama Controlled Substance certification required, BLS required, BPS certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to accurately perform computer order entry duties.
• Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations and the metric system.
• Basic knowledge in pharmacokinetic calculations and parenteral nutrition management.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Evidence of commitment to continuing education.Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:Position requires sitting for 90% of the workday and mobility 10% of the workday.
There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.
There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels.
Much exposure to computer work.
Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
