Job description

Clinical Scientist, Ophthalmology — Main Responsibilities
  • Provide scientific support for ophthalmology study(ies) by operationalizing the medical validation/review plan (reports and trackers).
  • Support design and execution of multiple ophthalmology clinical studies.
  • Perform clinical review and analysis of data listings, patient profiles, and essential study data; partner with Data Management on relevant queries.
  • Participate in CRF design, review CRF design and completion instructions.
  • Support CRD and the Study Team with study start-up, site opening, enrollment monitoring, and ongoing support.
  • Contribute to preparation/review of submission and study documents (protocols/amendments, informed consent, benefit-risk assessments, study plans/reports, trial disclosure forms, and related materials).
  • Support preparation of medical answers to questions from Health Authorities, IRB/Ethics Committees, investigators, and experts.
  • Support regulatory document filing and archiving.
  • Contribute to centralized monitoring strategy; support data validation and Clinical Case review (incl. safety events).
  • Ensure quality/update of study documents and CRF adequacy with protocol amendments.
  • Help define and document data collection needs (quantitative/qualitative).
  • Support/organize study committees (e.g., IDMC), and meetings (Steering/Data Monitoring/Adjudication); participate in training.
  • Maintain ophthalmology scientific/clinical expertise; critically evaluate literature; provide clinical landscape/benchmarks.
  • Assess and provide study support cost elements and plan management.
About You — Qualifications & Skills
  • Master’s required in Biomedical/Life/Pharmaceutical Sciences (or related); PhD/PharmD/MD preferred.
  • 3+ years industry experience in clinical research and/or drug development.
  • Required: ophthalmology clinical trial experience.
  • Knowledge of data collection/flow/validation through data analysis; data-driven, risk-managed medical data review.
  • Digital/data-oriented mindset; proficient clinical literature interpretation.
  • Experience supporting preparation/execution of clinical trials; basic statistical principles.
  • Knowledge of translational medicine and biomarkers.
  • Ability to take responsibility for medical activities and endorse CRD decisions independently.
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and clear communication with investigators/vendors/CROs.
  • Strong leadership, organization, autonomy, and proactive issue escalation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Gene therapy or novel ophthalmology modalities.
  • Familiarity with retinal diseases (e.g., AMD, geographic atrophy).
  • Experience with audit responses/regulatory inspections.
