Global pharmaceutical leader seeks a principal level Statistician to lead the development of statistical data projects for the company's drug discovery program. 

Job Description

This position will be based at one of the company's leading research facilities in San Diego.   The principal level statistician will support the design, execution, analysis, interpretation, and reporting or communication of data evidence for early to late clinical development programs for research, development, or marketed products.  This key position supports critical statistical aspects of regulatory requirements and critical business needs. The Statistician will: 

  • Use advanced statistical methodology to develop detailed disease, scientific or business reports 
  • Take a leadership role in providing statistical data studies utilizing experimental design, modeling, analysis planning, analysis execution, interpretation and statistical communications
  • Evaluate alternative or innovative approaches to statistical methods or business processes in complex program
  • Execute individual projects, which will include meeting with project team members, reporting activities, exploratory analyses and graphic support, the analysis of publications for individual clinical trials, studies or projects.
  • Build cross functional teams and relationships with CROs and other external partners as well as internal partners to achieve results for specific project needs
  • Deliver high quality and timely reports to project teams, statistics director and clinical trial team

Requirements:

  • Ph.D in statistics strongly preferred; Candidates with MS in Statistics and a depth of relevant experience in drug development statistical research will be considered
  • 3+ years experience in drug development statistical research
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in SAS or R and other industry computational tools REQUIRED
  • A depth of experience in planning, running and documenting simulations, including clinical trial simulations strongly preferred
  • Excellent communications skills; oral, written
  • A track record of accomplishment in working in a matrix organization, both as an individual contributor able to excel working independently, and as a team member or team leader
  • The ability to communicate and work directly with non-statisticians imparting and delivering complex statistical information to scientific development partners and researchers
