Laboratory Intern - Hayward, CA


About the Opportunity:


Meadowhawk Biolabs is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join us as a paid Laboratory Intern at our Hayward, CA location. We are a Contract Research Organization (CRO) founded by an experienced team of industry veterans over 4 years ago. 

This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain foundational laboratory operational experience and exposure to the life sciences industry within a fast-paced, collaborative CRO environment. This position will support our In Vivo, LCMS and Immunoanalytical groups as needed. The ideal candidate is curious, dependable, and eager to learn while contributing to day-to-day laboratory operations.


We are considering candidates available for:

Full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer

Part-time (10-20 hours/week) during the fall and spring semesters

Scheduling flexibility is available within reasonable operational needs. 


Key Roles and Responsibilities:


Under close supervision and in compliance with established procedures and safety requirements, the intern will support laboratory operations activities including, but not limited to:

Receipt, logging, storage, and disposition of study materials and samples 

Receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory management of laboratory consumables 

Collection and storage of biological and chemical waste in accordance with safety guidelines 

Cleaning, treatment, and preparation of laboratory glassware and labware 

Preparation of basic chemical solutions following defined procedures 

Maintaining organization and cleanliness of laboratory and vivarium operational areas 

Performing other clearly defined duties as assigned. 

Training will be provided for all assigned tasks. 


Minimum Education and Qualifications:


High school diploma or equivalent

Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in a scientific discipline

No prior laboratory experience required; prior experience is a plus.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in place of the criteria listed above. 


Skills: 


Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment

Capable of managing time effectively and handling multiple tasks

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Compensation:  


The target base hourly rate for this position is $18 per hour. The specific rate for this position may vary and will be based upon factors including, but not limited to, the individual's experience, education, and skills.
