Job Description

Job Summary

The Applications Engineer supports Teledyne FLIR's international OEM customer base, focusing on the integration of high-performance thermal cameras into customer systems. This role involves hands-on problem-solving to enable successful B2B sales and product integration. Responsibilities include technical support, documentation, customer training, product demonstrations, and collaboration with internal engineering teams across development, testing, and manufacturing.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop technical documentation including application notes, test procedures, FAQs, user guides, and product specifications.
  • Assist in product validation and release processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to product design, production, and validation.
  • Deliver product training to customers, sales representatives, and internal staff.
  • Support customers with system design, troubleshooting, and application of FLIR OEM products.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to support engineering initiatives.
  • Participate in assembly, testing, and development of OEM products.
  • Travel (domestic and international) to support product demonstrations and on-site support.
  • Gather customer insights and market feedback to inform product development and system requirements.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to support business development, including trade shows and customer visits.
  • Contribute to production line improvements based on customer feedback, including yield and process optimization.
  • Provide support to ensure smooth production operations and product delivery.
  • Assist systems engineering with the design, definition, and implementation of complex system requirements.
  • Support hardware/software compatibility efforts and system specification development.
  • Provide application support for a wide range of internal and external customer use cases involving IR camera systems.
  • Collaborate with senior systems engineers and contribute to special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new concepts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international); valid passport required.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as MATLAB or Python (C/C++ experience is a plus).
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Competency in mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen or Perm Resident
Preferred Education & Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Basic understanding of optics and electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and computer science principles.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools


Salary Range:

$62,800.00-$83,700.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
