Scope / Overview
The Engineering Tech / Petro Analyst (Business Analyst II) supports Well Management Engineers, operations teams, and leadership through data management, reporting, analytics, and process improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for maintaining data integrity, developing reporting solutions, supporting data governance efforts, and delivering dashboards and analytical tools that improve operational decision-making.
The position serves as a key liaison between engineering, operations, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, efficient workflows, and reliable data across multiple systems and business units.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support data governance initiatives to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of operational and production data.
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and interactive applications for engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Build and optimize reporting tools and applications to improve performance, usability, and accessibility of data.
  • Develop automated workflows and web-based tools that integrate with source systems and enhance self-service reporting capabilities.
  • Create and maintain data validation and QA/QC processes to improve reporting accuracy and reduce manual corrections.
  • Generate exception reports to identify and resolve data integrity issues.
  • Write and maintain SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data issues across enterprise systems.
  • Support system upgrades and enhancements, including testing, defect identification, and workflow improvements.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, IT, and vendors to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, dashboards, presentations, and analytical summaries for management and executive leadership.
  • Provide training, documentation, and user support for reporting tools and business systems.

  • Experience supporting operational reporting and business intelligence initiatives within an upstream oil and gas environment.

Critical Gating Requirements
  1. Oil & Gas experience supporting Engineering, Drilling, Completions, Production, or Well Management teams.
  2. Strong SQL experience.
  3. Dashboard and reporting development experience.
  4. Data validation, QA/QC, and data governance experience.
  5. Experience working with large operational datasets.
  6. Ability to work onsite in Midland, TX.
