Description Cultivating Excellence: Inspect, Improve, Inspire The City of Moreno Valley is now hiring a Landscape Services Inspector in our Parks & Community Services Department. JOIN THE MOVAL TEAM. This recruitment will fill one (1) vacancy for the Parks & Community Services Department.

Status: Full-time Schedule: Flexible schedule; Placement on a 5/8, 9/80, or 4/10 work schedule. A 2% base salary increase is scheduled to take effect in the first full pay period beginning after July 1, 2026. This recruitment will remain open until filled and may close at any time after the first review.

THE OPPORTUNITY The City is seeking a detail-oriented Landscape Services Inspector to oversee and inspect landscape construction and maintenance in public rights-of-way, greenbelts, and other open spaces. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with City standards, managing landscape maintenance contracts, and collaborating with contractors, developers, and community representatives to maintain safe, aesthetically pleasing landscapes.

The position involves inspecting new and existing landscape projects, identifying maintenance deficiencies, coordinating corrective actions, and monitoring irrigation systems for efficiency. Additionally, the inspector will support contract administration, review bid documents, verify invoices, and provide excellent customer service to residents and stakeholders. OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE E The ideal candidate has a strong background in landscape construction, maintenance, and contract administration, with expertise in horticulture, arboriculture, irrigation, and pest management. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving landscape deficiencies, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications are essential.

The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, is knowledgeable about industry regulations, and is committed to maintaining the beauty and safety of the City's landscaped spaces. MINIMUM AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school, or G.E.D. equivalent, supplemented by course work in landscape architecture, horticulture or a closely related field; and three years of landscape-related design and/or installation experience involving planning, installing and administering landscaping programs for medians, parks and large landscaped projects; OR, equivalent combination of training or related work experience

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy. A Qualified Applicator Certificate or License issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation or the ability to acquire within six months of date of hire. A National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Certificate or the ability to acquire within six months of date of hire.
