What Do Pest Controllers Do?

A pest controller or exterminator is a pest control specialist. In this career, your job is to inspect a building, home, or area for evidence of pest problems. Once you have identified the issue, you select and apply pesticides to eradicate the pests. Depending on the type of problem, you may also need to set and bait mechanical traps. In many cases, an extermination service posts signs and erects barriers so that pesticides do not enter other areas and people do not enter the area covered with pesticides. While it is possible to be self-employed in this industry, many pest controllers start their career with an established company.
