General Purpose of the Job:

Compiles and maintains control records and related files to release blueprints, drawings, and engineering documents to manufacturing and other operating departments by performing the following duties:

Summary of Major Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Examines documents such as blueprints, drawings, change orders, and specifications to verify completeness and accuracy of data.

  • Confers with document originators or engineering liaison personnel to resolve discrepancies and compiles required changes to documents.

  • Posts changes to computerized or manual control records, releases documents, and notifies affected departments.

  • Maintains related files.

  • Prepares requests for reproduction of documents.

  • Operates reproduction equipment.

  • Prepares reports and memorandums.

  • Attends weekly customer meetings to ensure all documents are being transmitted properly.

  • Set up new Projects in CSI and works with the Engineering and Project Management team to ensure all requirements are input and met.

  • Works with outside vendors as needed to ensure they have all the proper documentation to perform Checking and ensure all documents are sent and received in a timely manner.

  • Conducts work safely and follows all safety procedures. Rejects work that is not safe and discusses the situation with supervisor.

  • Help in writing Standard Operating Procedures or Work Instructions for department as needed.

  • Work with Shop Floor Supervisors to maintain, log and distribute quality issues that arise due to Engineering or Customer Changes/Errors

  • Maintain and assign out monthly Quality Audits and log appropriately for each review.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equiv. combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or digital form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
