What is a personalized learning teacher?

Personalized Learning Teachers are educators who design and implement customized educational experiences tailored to each student’s unique learning needs, interests, and abilities. They use a variety of teaching methods, technology tools, and assessment data to create individualized learning plans. These teachers often work closely with students, families, and other educators to ensure that each student can learn at their own pace and reach their full potential. Personalized Learning Teachers foster student engagement, self-direction, and academic growth by adapting instruction to fit diverse learning styles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a personalized learning teacher?

To thrive as a Personalized Learning Teacher, you need a strong background in instructional design, differentiated instruction, and a teaching credential or relevant degree. These skills and qualities are crucial for effectively tailoring instruction to meet individual student needs and driving academic success.

How does a personalized learning teacher typically collaborate with other educators to support student success?

Job description

High School Teacher (On-Site Classroom Instructor)
Teach in a personalized, small-group environment where students can catch up, stay on track, or get ahead through flexible and honors-level pathways.
Location: On-site | Pinnacle Charter Schools – Nogales Campus, Nogales, Arizona
This is not a remote role.

About Us:
Pinnacle Charter Schools, operated by MGRM Pinnacle, is a Cognia-accredited network of charter schools serving students across Arizona since 1995. We offer a flexible, year-round instructional model that blends online learning with in-person academic support at our school sites.
Our approach is built around Personalized Learning Programs (PLPs) that allow students to move at their own pace—whether they are catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead through honors-level coursework and accelerated pathways.
We serve a diverse student population with varying academic goals and life circumstances.  Our students have diverse academic goals—some benefit from additional support and flexibility, while others are motivated to accelerate, take on more rigorous coursework, or pursue a non-traditional path to graduation. At Pinnacle, we prioritize individualized learning, strong relationships, and meaningful academic progress.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable High School Teacher (On-Site Classroom Instructor) to join our Nogales Campus.
In this role, you will work directly with students in a small-group, personalized learning environment,  providing targeted instruction, enrichment, and academic coaching. Your classroom will include students working at different levels—ranging from those needing additional support to those pursuing accelerated or honors coursework.
This position is ideal for educators who enjoy:
  • Teaching in a non-traditional, flexible setting.
  • Supporting both intervention and enrichment.
  • Working closely with students through 1-on-1 and small-group instruction.
  • Helping students stay on track—or move ahead—toward graduation.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide daily on-site 1-on-1 and small-group instruction, supporting both foundational learning and advanced coursework.
  • Create a classroom environment that is structured, engaging, and responsive to diverse student needs.
  • Support students in staying on pace, accelerating progress, or deepening understanding through honors-level work.
  • Monitor academic progress and deliver targeted interventions or enrichment to ensure measurable student growth.
  • Build strong relationships with students to foster motivation, accountability, and confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, academic progress, and interventions.
  • Support a small roster of online students with instruction, feedback, and progress monitoring.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families to support engagement and success.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to promote the school’s programs, including flexible and accelerated learning pathways.
  • Engage in professional development and staff collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations and student success.

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s or higher preferred).
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate in the relevant subject area, or the ability to obtain one. Highly qualified candidates with advanced degrees (Master’s/PhD) or significant subject-matter expertise are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners across a range of academic levels, including students needing additional support as well as those pursuing accelerated or honors-level work.
  • Strong instructional skills with an emphasis on differentiation, individualized learning, and student-centered teaching practices.
  • Ability to build a structured yet flexible classroom environment that promotes both accountability and independence.
  • Comfort working in a non-traditional, blended learning model, including the use of learning management systems and digital tools.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with students, with the ability to motivate, engage, and hold students to high expectations.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • A growth-oriented and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to contribute to both academic instruction and broader school initiatives.

Why Join Us:
  • Work in a flexible, personalized learning environment that moves beyond traditional classroom models.
  • Support students across a spectrum of academic goals—from credit completion to honors and acceleration.
  • Build meaningful relationships through small-group and individualized instruction.
  • Be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team.
  • Enjoy a stable, year-round teaching role with consistent support and structure.
  • Work with a model that supports both academic recovery and advanced, honors-level progression.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary for this position is competitive and based on prior experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, and employer retirement contributions.
Equal Opportunity Employer:
MGRM Pinnacle Inc. is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.
