Job description

Attorney – Build Your Career with Prince & Schmidt
(Prince, Schmidt & Woods, LLP)
Make an Impact. Advance Your Career. Advocate for Those Who Need It Most.

At Prince & Schmidt (Prince, Schmidt & Woods, LLP), we do more than practice personal injury law—we fight for people during the most difficult times of their lives. We are seeking a driven, skilled, and compassionate Attorney who is ready to take ownership of their caseload while receiving strong mentorship, career development, and a clear pathway to partnership.

This role provides the opportunity to manage a caseload of 50-80 personal injury cases independently, while also assisting our partners with litigation overflow (motions, discovery, and depositions). While the primary focus is on pre-litigation settlements and negotiations, associates should have the proven ability to competently and efficiently assist in litigation drafting and depositions.

Our office is located in the heart of historic downtown Santa Fe, just steps from the courthouse and surrounded by renowned restaurants, boutique shops, and the iconic Santa Fe Plaza. It’s an inspiring place to work, offering both professional convenience and an enjoyable atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, highly rewarding career where you can grow into a leadership role, we encourage you to apply!

Why Join Prince Firm?

  • Partnership Track – Attorneys who demonstrate skill, leadership, and commitment have a clear pathway to partnership.
  • Competitive Salary & Performance-Based Bonuses – Your hard work and results are recognized and rewarded.
  • Profit Sharing & Fee Sharing – Earn additional compensation on direct referrals.
  • Comprehensive Benefits – Excellent health insurance and a 401(k) with profit sharing.
  • Paid Time Off & Holidays – We value work-life balance.
  • Mentorship from Experienced Trial Attorneys – Learn from seasoned litigators dedicated to your professional growth.
  • Hands-on Litigation & Negotiation Experience – Not just desk work—real case advocacy
  • Growth & Leadership Opportunities – We mentor attorneys to become future leaders in our firm.
  • A Collaborative, Client-Focused Culture – We take pride in the work we do and the people we serve.
  • Fantastic Downtown Location – Work near the courthouse, top restaurants, and Santa Fe Plaza—an exceptional environment to thrive in.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a caseload of 50-80 personal injury cases from intake through resolution.
  • Negotiate settlements with adjusters and defense counsel to maximize client compensation.
  • Advocate for clients by effectively communicating with medical providers, opposing counsel, and insurance companies.
  • Conduct legal research, draft demand letters, and develop case strategies to strengthen claims.
  • Assist with litigation overflow, including motions, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Utilize case management software and legal technology to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Uphold and enhance the firm’s reputation for excellence, professionalism, and client advocacy.

Who We are Looking For

  • Licensed to practice law in New Mexico and in good standing with the state bar.
  • 3+ years of personal injury experience with solid litigation skills and aptitude to improve.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills – Strong advocacy begins with clear, persuasive writing.
  • Excellent organizational and case management skills – Ability to balance multiple cases efficiently.
  • Independent yet collaborative – Confidently handle cases while working seamlessly with the team.
  • Tech-savvy – Comfortable using case management software, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Passionate about helping injured clients – A commitment to fighting for justice and achieving real results.
