Job description

Dexter is the premier manufacturer and supplier of axles, suspension, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts, accessories, and towing components serving the commercial trailer, RV, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets has an opportunity for HSE Manager at our manufacturing facility located in Albion, IN.
The HSE Manager will lead, and coordinate activities related to the company’s health, safety, and environmental program.
More specifically, this position will be responsible for activities including but not limited to the following:

  • Developing and maintaining a variety of safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that will ensure all associates are in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Developing and implementing a program to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses, including area assessments, injury investigations and clear, measurable goals.
  • Correcting working conditions, using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and safety standards, develops loss control programs, and devises methods to evaluate safety progresses.
  • Assessing share, and leverage HSE best practices across sites.
  • Establishing, implementing, and maintaining all Environmental and Safety Management systems in accordance with ISO 14001/ISO 18001, reporting to top management on performance, and recommend improvements.
  • Serving as the interface between local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, corporate and any insurance carrier representatives to ensure plant compliance.
  • Managing plant’s environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.
  • Creating and managing budgets for HSE activities including consulting and testing, waste removal, safety equipment, safety recognition activities, etc.
  • Leading investigations on environmental non-compliance, safety non-compliance, and root cause incidents and provide urgent response to operational issues.
  • Leading implementations and use of team implemented problem solving.
  • Conducting site audits and evaluate plant’s compliance with environmental regulations and identify areas of improvements.
  • Implementing environmental solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes/systems that lead to reduction in environmental waste streams.
  • Managing worker’s compensation claims.
  • Leading safety, HSE, and awareness program trainings.
  • Performing other tasks, duties or special projects as directed.
