Job description

SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.
We are seeking a Mine Closure and Permitting Consultant.
Description of Responsibilities:
  • To consult on projects for Alaska and North American clients, with some travel
  • Manage and execute technical studies, closure plans, reclamation plans, permit applications, cost estimates, and other project deliverables.
  • Develop project scopes, work plans, schedules, budgets, and proposals and manage projects through successful completion.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, and other technical specialists.
  • Conduct site inspections, technical evaluations, environmental audits, and due diligence reviews.
  • Coordinate with mining clients, contractors, and state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and supporting documentation.
  • Support business development activities and contribute to maintaining and growing client relationships.

Essential Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, mine engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in mining, engineering consulting, environmental consulting, civil infrastructure, mine operations, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical projects, including responsibility for project planning, budgeting, scheduling, technical deliverables, and client communications.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and technical writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with mine closure, reclamation, environmental permitting, cost estimating, or other mining-related projects.
  • Knowledge of Alaska mining regulations, federal environmental permitting programs and regulatory agency coordination.
  • Professional registration (PE, PG, PMP, or similar credential) and consulting experience.
