Vitesse Systems is looking for a Mechanical Engineer II to join the team in Webster, Texas! The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and analyzing components and assemblies with a keen eye for structural integrity. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with RF Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to deliver innovative and manufacturable products for our internal and external customers.

The Role

The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Engineer is to design and analyze component and assemblies, while ensuring structural integrity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design hardware based on customer specifications using SolidWorks
  • Closely collaborate with RF, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure design for manufacturability.
  • Perform static and dynamic analyses (modal, static, random vibration, and thermoelastic) on designed hardware based on customer specifications using NEi/NX Nastran and Femap
  • Work with QA to resolve non-conformances as they apply to design
  • Create and maintain proper documentation associated with the design and analysis of the hardware
  • Communicate technical information internally and with customers and vendors
  • Support production and test of the hardware
  • Troubleshoot hardware as needed
  • Support R&D test and design activities
  • Support the Sales Team with hours estimates and mockups for proposals
  • Review and approve drawings using GD&T, including tolerance stack-up analysis where required
  • Adhere to government regulations, industry standards and internal guidelines to produce quality hardware in a quality setting
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 2 years of related design experience within the aerospace industry required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering.
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD experience desired.
  • EPDM experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems is desired.
  • NEi/NX Nastran, Femap, or similar analysis software experience
  • Familiarity with composite structural design
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including CNC machining and 3D Printing
  • Experience assembling and delivering technical presentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management skills, particularly with respect to delivering engineering content necessary to support the production process.
