Position Summary

Nokia Federal Solutions (Nokia Federal) is seeking an RF Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support the design, development, and integration of RF systems for advanced wireless communication products. This role will contribute to RF architecture, circuit design, simulation, hardware development, and testing throughout the product development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with RF circuit design and simulation, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams. This position will independently own assigned RF subsystem activities and help drive products from design through prototype and validation.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

RF Design

  • Design and develop RF transceiver circuits for wireless communication products.
  • Support the development of RF front-end architectures, including power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, mixers, frequency converters, synthesizers, PLL circuits, and antenna interfaces.
  • Develop and analyze RF link budgets to evaluate overall system performance.
  • Support component selection, design trade studies, and evaluation of emerging RF technologies.
  • Contribute to RF architecture and design decisions based on system requirements and performance objectives.

Simulation & Analysis

  • Utilize RF design and simulation tools such as Keysight ADS, AWR Microwave Office, HFSS, and/or CST Microwave Studio.
  • Perform RF circuit and system analysis, including harmonic balance and S-parameter simulations.
  • Support electromagnetic simulations and analysis of RF components and designs.
  • Evaluate interference, coexistence, and thermal considerations that may impact RF performance.
  • Apply simulation and analysis results to improve circuit performance and resolve design issues.

Hardware Development

  • Develop RF schematics and provide guidance to PCB layout engineers.
  • Review RF PCB layouts for controlled impedance routing, signal integrity, and overall RF performance.
  • Support board bring-up, prototype testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Develop and execute RF test strategies and validation plans.
  • Work closely with hardware, software, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate RF solutions into complete products.
  • Independently own assigned RF subsystem design activities and deliverables.
  • Drive assigned product development activities to support successful execution and delivery.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in RF engineering or related hardware development.
  • Experience with RF circuit design and wireless communication systems.
  • Familiarity with RF transceiver and front-end architectures.
  • Experience with RF simulation and analysis tools.
  • Understanding of RF PCB layout, controlled impedance routing, and signal integrity.
  • Experience supporting prototype development, board bring-up, and hardware testing.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Keysight ADS, AWR Microwave Office, HFSS, and/or CST Microwave Studio.
  • Experience with RF testing and laboratory equipment.
  • Familiarity with LTE, 5G, or other modern wireless communication technologies.
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical communications systems.
  • Experience with antenna interfaces and RF system integration.
  • Ability to manage assigned technical activities and drive deliverables from design through validation.
