Job description

As a Sr Advanced Electrical Reliability & System Safety Engineer, here at Honeywell Aerospace and as part of the Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety (RMSS) Engineering organization, you will lead reliability and system safety engineering activities for electronic hardware and control systems on multiple propulsion engine and APU programs.
In this role, you will have ownership for reliability and system safety at every aspect of the systems life cycle; from the front end of business development through product end of life. You will work across disciplines within the engine and APU development teams to drive growth and reach critical business milestones.
You will report directly to our Sr. Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ or Aguadilla, PR location on a Hybrid work schedule. Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reliability analysis - Allocations to define requirements
  • Reliability predictions throughout design process
  • Analyzing circuits for failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA) and Part Stress Analysis (PSA)
  • BITE effectiveness analysis (BEA)
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) at the controller level
  • Common Mode Analysis (CMA) at the controller level
  • Authoring Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) Plans
  • Authoring and ensuring development process follows system safety program plans
  • Failure conditions requirements analysis
  • Safety requirements decomposition
  • Model based development system design
  • Systems integration
  • Recommending design improvements to enhance reliability and safety
  • Safety requirements validation & verification
  • Aftermarket safety analysis and reliability metrics tracking
  • Customer interaction
  • Project coordination within a team and/or leading a small team of RMSS engineers
  • Travel: up to 5%
  • Relocation support maybe provided

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably within aerospace or related industries
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics

  • Demonstrated experience in system safety analysis per ARP4761 and/or MIL-STD-882.
  • Reliability Prediction experience per MIL-HDBK-217
  • FMEA experience per MIL-STD-1629A
  • Failure mode apportionment per FMD 2016 (or older version)
  • Knowledge of SEE (single event effects) and radiation effects to electronics parts
  • Knowledge of systems development lifecycle
  • Experience in the design, development, manufacture, and/or test of electronic hardware that controls gas turbine engines or similarly complex electro-mechanical aerospace systems.
  • Experience analyzing circuits and mentoring less experienced electrical engineers in this area
  • Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts.
  • Leading diverse and global team
