Description

The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) is responsible for providing high-quality flight and ground instruction to student pilots in accordance with FAA regulations and company training standards. CFIs play a critical role in developing safe, competent pilots while supporting the overall training experience and operational excellence of the organization. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, student success, and adherence to company policies and FAA regulations.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide flight instruction to students in accordance with FAA regulations and company training standards.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight briefings to support student learning and progression.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all training is conducted in a safe, professional, and structured manner.
  • Provide ground instruction covering aeronautical knowledge required for certification.
  • Prepare students for FAA written exams, oral exams, and practical tests.
  • Maintain accurate training records, endorsements, and student progress documentation.
  • Monitor student progression and communicate concerns with leadership.
  • Ensure all required endorsements and logbook entries are completed in compliance with FAA requirements.
  • Adhere to all FAA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Participate in the company's Safety Management System (SMS) by identifying and reporting safety hazards or concerns.
  • Ensure aircraft are operated safely and in accordance with operating limitations and procedures.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and other instructors to manage aircraft scheduling and student training needs.
  • Maintain availability and schedule consistency to support student progression.
  • Support operational efficiency while prioritizing safety and training quality.
  • Promote a positive training culture that reflects the organization's commitment to excellence.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct in accordance with company standards.
  • Participate in instructor meetings, standardization training, and professional development as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate (required)
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate for Airplane Single Engine Land or Multi-Engine Land (required)
  • Instrument Airplane Rating (required)
  • Valid FAA Class II or Class I Medical Certificate
  • Strong communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to mentor and coach student pilots effectively
