Summary of Position
The job of Flight Instructor is a full-time position working under the supervision of the Chief Flight Instructor. The individual will provide quality flight, simulator and ground instruction in accordance with FAA regulations and Central Texas College Aviation Science Department procedures.
Education and Experience
45 semester hours college credits (or equivalent experience). Associates Degree preferred.
Must have current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single engine Class Rating. Must have current FAA First or Second Class Medical Certificate. CFI- Instrument Airplane (CFI-I) Rating and Multi-engine Instructor (MEI) preferred.

Essential Functions
- Provides Flight and Ground Instruction to assigned students according to CTC Flight Standardization and appropriate Training Course Outline (Syllabus).
- Meets with each assigned student as published on schedule, ensures that all lessons are completed according to the appropriate Training course outline, ensures that all appropriate endorsements and entries are made in the student's flight records and logbook.
- Unscheduled tutoring sessions for Aviation Students enrolled in other ground classes.
- Maintains current, accurate and complete student training records.
- Maintain Flight Simulators (Updates, inspections, and certification flights)
- Assists in the scheduling and dispatch of students according to CTC policies and procedures.
- Schedules students for local solo and solo cross-country flights and assigns students specific areas of operations for practice purposes. Acts as "Instructor in Charge" during night training sessions and weekend duties as assigned.
- Makes every effort to encourage timely student progress by scheduling training flights in addition to sessions on the permanent schedule.
- Keeps Chief Flight Instructor appraised of student's progress and informed of any problems effecting their training.
- Follows CTC Safety procedures while conducting all flight and ground operations.
- Assists in maintaining college aircraft in an airworthy and presentable condition.
- Informs the Chief Flight Instructor and College Aircraft Mechanics of any mechanical problems encountered with CTC Training Aircraft.
- Assist with Teaching ground classes as needed.
- Weekend On Call for Cross-country flights (2 to 3 weekends on call per semester)
- Help with: Student Aviation Association & Flight Team preparations and competitions
- Adheres to all FAA regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
- Supports CTC Aviation Science Department activities and student organizations when possible.
- Other duties as assigned.
