Job Overview 

As a Machine Operator at Greenhouse, you are responsible for operating and supporting the equipment used to produce, process, and package our plant-based juices and milks. Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you play a key role in ensuring products are made safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Greenhouse’s quality and food safety standards. 

This role involves operating and monitoring a range of automated production and packaging systems, including processing tanks, transfer pumps, fillers, labelers, depalletizers, and packaging equipment. You will use HMI (Human Machine Interface) controls to start and stop equipment, adjust production parameters, monitor alarms, and ensure the line is running smoothly and consistently. 

Machine Operators are expected to support daily production by completing set-ups, changeovers, basic troubleshooting, and sanitation tasks while working closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to meet output targets and maintain safe operations. 

Statement of Work & Responsibilities: 

Equipment Operation and Maintenance 

  • Operate high-speed production lines, processing up to 10,000 bottles per hour. 
  • Manage and maintain equipment, including filling machines, packaging machines, blending machines, and juicing machines. 
  • Monitor equipment performance to ensure optimal functionality and product quality. 
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure safety. 
  • Make necessary adjustments or repairs to equipment to address malfunctions. 

Filling equipment (bottle/carton fillers, nozzles, product feed systems) 

  • Labeling equipment (label applicators, date coders, scanners/verification systems). 
  • Packaging equipment (case packers, sealers, conveyors, palletizing support). 
  • Depalletizer (feeding empty containers into the production line). 
  • Processing tanks (mixing/blending tanks, holding tanks, batch tanks). 
  • Pumps and transfer systems (sanitary pumps, hoses, valves, product transfer lines). 
  • Must have experience with HMI-controlled production systems used to monitor line performance, alarms, and parameters such as speed, flow, temperature, and levels. 
  • Support equipment including pallet wrappers, electric pump trucks (powered pallet jacks), drum lifters, and forklifts

Production Oversight 

  • Monitor production processes to ensure products are produced at the desired rate and meet quality standards. 
  • Keep accurate records of production runs, equipment changeovers, and other key metrics. 
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure smooth operation and achieve daily production targets. 

Safety and Compliance 

  • Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all food safety and regulatory standards. 
  • Maintain the GMP condition of the production line and ensure a clean and organized work area. 
  • Understand food safety risks related to the manufacturing process and escalate any concerns to leadership. 
  • Resolve food safety issues within the scope of work promptly and effectively. 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience: Must have at least 1 year of experience operating in manufacturing equipment in food/beverage or CPG. Must have at least 1 year of experience with machinery/equipment experience with Pallet Jack, Case Taper, Strech Wrapper. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Must have at least 1 year of experience with SOPs, GMP, HACCP, food safety standards, and have strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow prescribed production methods and maintain accurate documentation. 
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions as necessary. 
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 25 kg) and stand for long periods in cold/wet environments. 
  • Technology Skills: Basic computer proficiency and ability to use manufacturing software/scanners. 
  • Certification: Forklift driving and safety training certification is required.
