Registered Nurse (RN) – CVICU

Parkersburg, WV

Contract | Days | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed mixed-acuity CVICU unit serving both ICU-status and step-down patients at nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 for fresh hearts and devices, 1:2 for ICU-status patients, and 1:3 for step-down patients
• Manage and titrate a wide range of vasoactive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and anticoagulation drips including Cardizem, Cordarone, Levophed, Vasopressin, Propofol, Heparin, and others
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms independently every 4 hours; respond to monitor alarms in collaboration with off-unit monitor technicians using Philips monitoring systems
• Operate and manage respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, trach-vents, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow, and Trilogy in coordination with 24/7 on-unit respiratory therapy staff
• Care for patients with diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, post-cardiac and thoracic surgery, and pulmonary embolism
• Float as needed, primarily to ACU and ICU, with occasional float to Med-Surg and Telemetry units with a maximum patient assignment of 6

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum experience with post-operative open heart patients greater than 6 hours post-op; fresh open heart experience strongly preferred
• Must have hands-on experience with CRRT, temporary pacemakers, post-permanent pacemaker care, acute MI pre/post cardiac catheterization, mediastinal and chest tubes, mechanical ventilation, hypothermia protocol, and arterial lines
• Must have experience titrating vasoactive and critical care drips
• Candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius per facility policy; valid, unexpired driver's license required for submission

• Experience with IABP and/or Impella mechanical circulatory support devices
• Hemodynamic monitoring experience including Swan-Ganz catheter management
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health records

• Work in a well-supported CVICU environment with 24/7 intensivist and respiratory therapy coverage, PCT support, and access to self-scheduling and block scheduling options
• Gain experience in a high-acuity cardiovascular setting managing complex surgical and medical cardiac patients with a comprehensive one-week unit orientation
