Job description

Position Title: Summer Camp Program Lead

Main Location: Program Leads will work with our family and children programs, which are located throughout the Bay Area in either Daly City, San Mateo, Menlo Park, or Santa Clara.

Background:

LifeMoves is the largest nonprofit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to helping homeless families and individuals across Silicon Valley return to permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Program Leads to manage LifeMoves Summer Adventure Camp, a summer day camp program for unhoused children ages 5-12 living in LifeMoves programs. The Summer Adventure Camp is an important component of LifeMoves’ model of comprehensive supportive services and the mission to help families break the cycle of homelessness and return to self-sufficiency. Camp supports each child’s growth and education, while allowing parents to focus on securing work and permanent housing. Activities and field trips are organized around weekly themes, such as outer space, sports, environmental sustainability, technology, and art, for a fun and educational experience.

Time Commitment: 7 Weeks, full-time (165-200 hours total)

Dates: June 15-July 31, 2026
June 15-June 26, M-F: Orientation and training for all LifeMoves summer camp
staff
June 29-July 30
Mondays: 1-4 hours prep onsite
Tuesday-Thursday: Summer camp
Fridays: 1-2 hour morning virtual debrief meeting, site preparations for
the following week

July 31: Camp debriefs and deconstruction process, data collection, end of
summer celebration

Responsibilities Include:

Attends and completes LifeMoves onboarding and summer camp training
Manages a revolving staff of 5-15 high-school-aged volunteers on-site and on
weekly field trips
Support Children's Services Coordinators in planning, leading, and overseeing
daily camp activities that center on STEAM (science, technology, engineering,
arts, and math) topics, as well as supervision of children and volunteer
counselors
Creates a safe, engaging, and trauma-informed learning environment
Provides structure, guidance, and learning objectives for weekly field trips
Supports Nutrition Coordinators in overseeing the organization and distribution
of daily meal program
Responds quickly and calmly to any emergency or crisis at Summer Adventure
Camp
Collects and submit daily attendance.
Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements/Preferred Skills:
High school seniors and college students (18+)
Experience working with school-aged children
Leadership experience amongst peers
Creative planning and activity design, with excellent follow through
Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with volunteers, donors,
vendors, and clients
Proactive self-starter, ability to work independently
Ability to enforce rules to keep children safe
Diligent work ethic, positive attitude, and a desire to learn about LifeMoves’
mission of ending homelessness
Must be able to follow COVID-19 safety protocols and procedures
Learning Outcomes:
Leadership experience in managing all sides of a summer program for
underserved populations
Experience designing and implementing nutritional and educational
programming for unhoused children
Insight into the needs of unhoused children and how adverse experiences impact
long-term outcomes
Exposure to senior staff and the operations of a leading nonprofit organization
Networking opportunities for career development
CPR and crisis management training

Position can also fulfill internship requirements if necessary

Compensation:

Hourly, $18.70 per hour
