The HNTB Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) team is responsible for developing advanced analytics products, applying data visualization and statistical programming tools to enterprise data in order to advance and enable the key mission outcomes for our clients. Our team supports all phases of analytic work product development, from the identification of key business questions through data collection and ETL, working closely with a team of subject matter experts, and from performing analyses and using a wide range of statistical, machine learning, artificial intelligence and applied mathematical techniques to deliver insights to decision-makers. Our practitioners give special attention to the interplay between data and the business processes that produce it and the decision-makers that consume insights.
What You'll Do:
  • Analyzes large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Builds and validates predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define problem statements and data requirements.
  • Develops and maintains data pipelines and model deployment workflows.
  • Conducts A/B testing and evaluates model performance.
  • Mentors junior team members and contributes to knowledge sharing.
  • Presents findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, computer engineering, or information systems and 2 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, computer engineering, or information systems and 1 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu of education, 6 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R or SQL.
  • Experience with data analytics platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or similar tools
  • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Power BI, Tableau or similar tools.

What We Prefer:
  • 6+ years of experience as a data scientist or data engineer utilizing languages such as Python, R, SQL, Scala, and Java
  • Experience working in a consulting environment
  • Previous Transportation Industry experience
  • Hybrid work environment experience
  • Ability to travel

The approximate pay range for Illinois is $81,859.63 - $122,789.44. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
The approximate nation wide pay range for this position is $74,417.85 - $139,533.46. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
