Relationship: Vice President of Engineering
Education: BS/BA degree engineering or equivalent experience working in management
Work Experience: Should have a minimum of 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing with management experience preferred.
Must have a strong business background and be computer literate in engineering design programs, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Job Summary: Responsible for aligning routine and assigned engineering activities with operational needs and objectives. Applies a broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the preparation of analyses for customers, suppliers and internal use. Makes and communicates disciplined decisions concerning problems. Communicate decisions and analyses clearly to a variety of audiences.

Characteristics: Requires superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. A strong sense of urgency, financial responsibility and the ability to handle confidential information. Strong technical knowledge and ability in process and general engineering disciplines. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy, accountability for results and ability to follow up. Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations. Person must have very strong organizational and computer skills proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Principal Area of Responsibility:
-Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work to accomplish routine output while fostering growth to meet our improvement goals.
-coordinates with customer representatives as needed to obtain approval on various phases of work
-coordinates creation of engineering drawings with other project groups
-Mentor direct reports and other employees as needed to provide a safe, productive, customer focused work environment
-Works with senior leadership to promote a work environment fostering openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction
Specific Duties: This position will:
-Oversee the creation of accurate and efficient material requisitions, manufacturing instructions and supplemental drawings delivered to operations.
Oversee the creation of CNC machine programs to efficiently manufacture product.
Oversee the design, manufacture and acquisition of work holding, perishable and semi perishable tooling necessary for efficient operation.
-Review and investigate manufacturing changes for their business effects.
-Assist operations as required.
-communicates complex technical discussions with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators)
-Work with estimating on the preparation of unusual estimates to determine their feasibility, manufacturing plan, schedule and budget.
-independently solve problems and display conflict resolution skills
-Align the engineering department with organizational goals and metrics.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of college course work completed along with other relevant experience. Additional training in formal Engineering systems standards, 6-Sigma and LEAN concepts in preferred.

Work Experience:
  • Should have a minimum of 5+ years of previous academic or Engineering experience. Gearing experience is preferred. Experienced with LEAN and 6-Sigma improvement tools including advanced knowledge in Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint and Mini-Tab.
