Job description

JOB SUMMARY Corvus Consulting, LLC has an opening for a mid-level Data Scientist to join our team supporting mission-focused programs in the National Capital Region (NCR). In this role, you will partner with cross-functional stakeholders—including product, sales, leadership, and marketing teams—to deliver actionable insights derived from company and program data. The ideal candidate is highly skilled at working with large, complex datasets to identify opportunities for product and process optimization and applying statistical and machine learning models to evaluate the effectiveness of different courses of action. This position requires strong experience using a variety of data mining and analytical methods, leveraging multiple data tools and platforms, and developing, testing, and implementing predictive models, algorithms, and simulations to support decision-making. The Data Scientist will be responsible for translating business and operational needs into analytical approaches, developing measurable frameworks to evaluate outcomes, and clearly communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Successful candidates will demonstrate a proven ability to drive meaningful business results through data-driven recommendations and will bring curiosity, initiative, and a passion for uncovering solutions hidden in large data sets. This position is expected to be located in the NCR area and is contingent upon contract award and funding, including final salary and compensation. RESPONSIBILITIES • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions. • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies. • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques. • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets. • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes. • Develop company A/B testing framework and test model quality. • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes. • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development. • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets. • Experience working with and creating data architectures. • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams. • Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, etc. • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc. • Experience using web services: Redshift, S3, Spark, DigitalOcean, etc. • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc. • Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc. • Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc. • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Periscope, Business Objects, D3, ggplot, etc. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications include: • 5-7 years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models. • Master’s or PHD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field. • TS/SCI Level Security Clearance Corvus Consulting, LLC. provides equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability status, genetic information, marital status, ancestry, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, and local laws and offers equal opportunity for VEVRAA Protected Veterans.
