Job description

Location: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote - Downtown Houston
  • Open to candidates who would need to relocate (1-2 months to relocate but onsite for the first couple weeks)

Project Details: This senior Developer will be primarily responsible for design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of IT applications utilizing Oracle PL/SQL. Interfaces with clients at all organizational levels and takes business requirements and delivers technical work to yield productive products for end users. 
Must Have Skills:
  • 5 + years of hands on Oracle Database Experience
    • Versions 11g and 12c 
    • TOAD/SQL Developer experience (tool to log into the database) 
  • Experience with Java and hands on experience in advanced PL/SQL, developing PL/SQL  
  • Operating Systems experience such as Linux, Unix and Windows 
  • Familiar with SDLC Process 
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects at the same time 

Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work and communicate across various teams, both upstream and downstream - Great communication is important
  • Team player
  • Ability and want to participate in every life cycle of the development 

Nice to have skills:
  • Oracle Fusion - HUGE PLUS

Education/Certification Requirements: 
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred 
  • Training or certification on Java Application servers, cloud solutions and Oracle PL/SQL language - PLUS 
Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Performs planning, design, development, testing, migration to production, and the maintenance of applications using Oracle and third-party tools.
  • Experience writing complex queries, using advanced PL/SQL concepts and performance tuning. Assist in defect triage, impact analysis, resolution planning and implementation
  • Analyzing and converting business requirements to technical requirements, followed by designing and implementing the solutions
  • Experience in reviewing the Oracle ADDM and AWR reports and recommending query optimization based on the analysis
  • Leverage Oracle 12C features to their fullest on a large-scale multi-terabyte system
  • Assist Decision Support team members including DBAs, database developers, requirements analysts, and others, in understanding data and meeting user requirements
  • Participate in project work groups with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to understand data specific needs
  • Participate in performance tuning activities
  • Provide production deployment and production support as needed
  • Involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle; demonstrate abilities to learn both the business processes as well as new and existing technologies
  • Work on sprint team in agile, rapid development and deployment environment.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
