To provide required classroom instruction to operate a driver education motor vehicle, maintain student records and issue documentation according to the Michigan Driver Education Rules. Individual must document and demonstrate competency of the following:

· Knowledge of the classroom curriculum

· Ability to identify and apply current state law and regulations

· Organization of lessons and preparation to conduct classroom instruction

· Ability to maintain a learning environment and management of a class

· Ability to assess, monitor and adjust performance as necessary

· Time management

· Record keeping in compliance

· Written communication skills

· Ability to contact first aid resources in the event of an emergency

· Oral instruction presentation and delivery techniques

· Ability to use visual aids and technical apparatus pertinent to the program’s curriculum

· Completion of team teaching with a qualified instructor

· Be at least 21 years old

· Must hold a valid MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF STATE DRIVER EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATE

· Should participate in continuing ed on driving practices and new laws

· Experience teaching classroom or BEHIND THE WHEEL is preferred
