Playground/Cafeteria Monitor

Position Type: Part-Time Pay: Starting at $15.50 per hour Schedule: Shifts are available during the following times: 7:15 AM, 8:15 AM, 10:15 AM, 1:15 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM. Note: Not all monitors are required to work all shifts. We offer some scheduling flexibility.

Reports To: Elementary Administrative Assistant & Assistant Principal

About the Role

We're looking for caring, reliable individuals to join our team as Playground and Cafeteria Monitors. This is a great part-time opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive difference in a school community. In this role, you'll help supervise students during key parts of the school day including arrival, lunch, and recess helping to ensure a safe, welcoming, and fun environment. Your day will be filled with fresh air, friendly faces, and plenty of smiles.

What You'll Do
  • Greet and supervise students during morning arrival.
  • Oversee students during lunch and recess in the cafeteria, playground, and other common areas.
  • Assist students with lunch needs (e.g., opening containers, using the microwave, cleaning up small spills).
  • Help with lunchroom and playground clean-up as needed.
  • Check playground areas for safety, sweep debris, and perform light snow removal when needed.
  • Report any injuries, concerns, or behavior issues to staff.
  • Be a visible, supportive presence throughout the school day.
  • Step in to help with other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

High school diploma or GED preferred. Must be at least 18 years old. Friendly and dependable, with a love for working with kids. Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, in all kinds of weather. Able to move around frequently, including walking, standing, stooping, and occasionally lifting or shoveling. Strong communication skills and a calm, positive attitude. Able to handle interruptions and multitask when needed.

Additional Details: A background check is required for hire. You'll need appropriate footwear (closed-toe shoes, sneakers, or boots). PPE (e.g., masks or gloves) may be required and will be provided as needed. This position qualifies for Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) retirement benefits. This position is not eligible for health, dental, or vision insurance.
