NURSING SUPERVISOR, 2nd SHIFT
Brookside Care Center

In addition to 24 hour per day Registered Nursing staff, we have a full complement of Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants who deliver the highest quality nursing care to each of our residents, encouraging them to reach their optimal state of health and wellbeing.
We offer skilled rehabilitation nursing services, assisting short-term clients to heal and return to their previous living settings as quickly as possible, as well as services geared towards those who require the assistance of a skilled facility on a long-term basis and those nearing the end of life. Our services include, but are not limited to, post-surgical care, IV infusion therapy, respiratory services, wound care (directed by a wound care certified nurse), peritoneal dialysis, pain management, restorative nursing, dementia care, and hospice care.
We are dedicated to the model of Person Directed Care and work closely with residents, families, and the rest of the interdisciplinary team, to formulate a plan of care designed around the resident's goals.
We promote continuing education for all our nursing staff by offering online education as well as live in-house programs. We encourage our staff to remain current in the standards of nursing practice as well as working to improve their skills.
Brookside is also proud to contribute to the future of nursing by serving as a clinical practice site for Gateway Technical College's A.D.N., P.N., Preceptor and C.N.A. programs, Herzing University's B.S.N., P.N. and Preceptor programs, Marquette M.S.N. and Preceptor program, and the University of Milwaukee and Carthage College B.S.N. programs. 2026 Hiring Range: $84,278 - $100,330
Work Schedule
  • This is a fulltime position, Monday-Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

Position Summary and Job Duties
  • Reviews resident's condition, reviews orders and responds to treatments and regularly monitors residents who display a change in condition or who are acutely ill.
  • Provides clinical nursing expertise in the management of complex nursing needs, problems, and in emergency situations.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care policies and procedures and ensures nursing personnel compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Complete performance evaluations for assigned personnel in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the development of a care plan for each resident which identifies problems and needs, and realistic resident centered goals. Indicate the care which is to be provided and the discipline responsible for the care.
  • Monitor implementation of care plans by nursing personnel, ensuring that care plans are used in providing daily care to residents.
  • Supervise the day to day functions of nursing operations and activities, ensuring compliance with State and Federal standards as well as established standards of nursing practice on assigned shift.
  • Make rounds as necessary to ensure that all nursing personnel are performing work assignments in accordance with established nursing standards and implement appropriate corrective action when performance discrepancies are noted.
  • Coordinates the activities of nursing personnel, plans the division of work, supervises work assignments, and replaces staff vacancies for next shift as needed.
  • Assists in orienting and monitoring new personnel and counseling personnel as indicated.
  • Makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing regarding disciplinary action for employees.
  • Administer corrective discipline when needed in a fair manner without prejudice.
  • Review and evaluate unit/shift work force, workload and make staffing recommendations to the Director of Nursing.
  • Participates in the interview and selection of nursing personnel.
  • Audit resident records and supervise actual record keeping, assuring accuracy and completion of nurses' notes, flow sheets, MAR's, etc.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive regard as well as a calm environment for the personnel and the residents.
  • Provides the Director of Nursing with pertinent information regarding the needs and problems of residents and delivery of corresponding nursing care.
  • Functions as on call supervisor on a rotating basis, maintaining constant availability.
  • Adhere to all Department of Commerce, County and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Checks emergency equipment on each area to ensure proper functioning and safety.

Success Factors
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and standards of professional nursing.
  • Knowledge of the practice of gerontological nursing.
  • Familiarity with, or experience in, restorative nursing, medical/surgical nursing, or geriatric nursing.
  • Strong Organization and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to give suitable instructions and assignments to employees and supervise their performance.
  • Ability to maintain effective communication and open, collaborative relationships with nursing and other facility staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members or responsible parties, physicians, and others as required.

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience
  • Possession of an Associate's degree in Nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • 2 years of clinical, long-term care experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.

Licenses or Certifications
  • RN license by State of Wisconsin, CPR certification, and ongoing CEU's on current nursing standards of practice.
