Job description

World Wide Rigging is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Fabricator to join our team in Fairburn, Ga responsible for fabricating, inspecting, and assembling various rope products to meet high-quality standards and customer specifications.

Position Overview

Fabricators accurately identify different diameters, constructions, and best possible applications for an array of products that are utilized in industries like construction, energy, mining, crane operation. Items assembled may be constructed with wire, chain or synthetic material.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties

  • Review, interpret drawings and blueprints and capacity tables
  • Understand codes and specifications as outlined on order tickets
  • Calculate wire rope cut lengths, fitting requirements and identify the appropriate equipment to produce all varieties of wire or synthetic rope and chain assemblies
  • Splicing wire rope and fabricating chain slings
  • Understanding and operation of industrial swaging machines, proof testing machines, and forklifts
  • Attach proper tags and labels to products
  • Maintain Inventory Records
  • Report defective or substandard material supplies or product
  • Shipping and receiving of goods
  • Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner, and follow all Safety Guidelines
  • May be required to assist with deliveries when needed

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Familiarity with industrial tools like cutting machines, swagers, crimping tools, and winches is preferred
  • Proficient at math and reading
  • Must be able to manage your time
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure or digital micrometer
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be persistent, energetic, and reliable

Other Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and criminal background check
  • Be able to provide valid documentation to provide proof of citizenship in accordance with I-9 document
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude
  • Report to work at the designated start time
  • Willing to travel to various work sites or training as required
  • Willing to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures and comply with the Company’s “Stop Work” policy
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designation operations and production areas as directed
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and Supervisor with other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience in the construction, equipment or oil industry is preferred
  • Proficient at math and reading
  • Must be able to manage your time
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure or digital micrometer
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be persistent, energetic, and reliable

Working Conditions, Hours, Travel

  • This job operates in a warehouse environment.
  • This is a full-time position with standard work hours of Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Minimal travel is expected for this position. May be required to travel for training.

Physical Requirements

  • The nature of work involves a considerable physical effort and stamina to perform mechanical tasks
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. of weight routinely during daily operations
  • Clear vision (with or without corrective lenses) is required. Precise hand-eye coordination is essential for cutting, splicing, and attaching fittings
  • Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired
  • Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out, use multiple muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects and make fast, repeated movements of shoulders, fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Good control of fine motor skills to ensure the accuracy and safety of the assemblies
  • Standing for extended periods, walking, bending, and standing during shifts
  • Frequent bending or crouching to work on machinery or fit wire ropes into place
  • Exposure to extreme heat or cold in warehouse or outdoor conditions in construction or rigging environments
  • Must be able to hear warnings or communicate effectively over industrial sounds
  • May encounter grease or medal dust
