Job description

TSR is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Designer to work with one of the largest EPC firms in the country. This is a contract position located in Corpus Christi, TX.
Under general supervision, the Electrical & Instrumentation Designer will apply advanced engineering techniques, make decisions on engineering problems and methods, represent the organization to resolve important questions, or to negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations. He/She will provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice.
This position is assigned to a client site team in Corpus Christi, TX. No relocation or per diem will be offered.
RESPONSIBILITES

  • Responsible for E/I design for plant capital and cost projects. Work from P&ID's, client specifications and vendor data to design complex piping systems for a chemical facility
  • Aid in developing E/I discipline design schedules and updating regularly
  • Work to meet any and all deadlines as required by project schedules
  • Perform fieldwork, pulling measurements, locating tie-ins, as-building existing systems, etc. develop detailed scopes
  • Create new and/or revise existing 2D MicroStation drawings (schematics, single lines, DCS I/O drawings, MCC’s, arrangements, P&IDs, tray routing, etc.) as well as cable and conductor sizing and approximate lengths.
  • Assemble design packages (for E&I portion) including scope of work, transmittal, drawings, vendor information, and quotes.
  • Lead E/I discipline design reviews for construction, maintenance, and operations personnel
  • Ensure completed design is functional, maintainable and designed with safety and that all applicable codes have been followed and maintained
  • Interface with other disciplines
  • Work with Construction as needed during the installation of the project.
  • Review project design estimates and work scopes for new projects

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 8 years of applicable industry E/I design experience
  • Proficient in MicroStation and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) preferred
  • Great communication skills and ability to lead project reviews.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in developing scopes of work, task analysis, material list, loop sheets, single lines, logics, schematics, arrangements, etc. preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is located at a chemical plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes
  • Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, and steel-toed boots
  • Day-to-day physical requirements involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs. frequently, etc.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
