Our Oncology team provides compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals and families throughout their cancer journey. If you're looking for a role where your clinical expertise and compassion truly make a difference, we'd love to hear from you!
Hours: Per Diem
Schedule: Days, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Weekends required: no
Per Diem Requirement: Per diem employees are expected to work a minimum of 32 hours per month.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Summary:
As the per diem Oncology Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for diagnosing responses to actual or potential health problems and for providing basic emergent, supportive, and restorative care through use of the nursing process. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned responsibility.
Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have ability to navigate various computer software programs.
  • Proficiency with SQ ports and central lines and signing off other nurses for competency.
  • Peer review of each and every chemotherapy order
  • Understanding chemotherapy dosing for patients older than 18, frequency, NCCN guidelines, and HD safe handling.
  • Meets the physical demands of the position.
  • Demonstrates ability to cope with and function under stress.
  • Meets skill certification requirements for designated units.
  • According to age and developmental level of the patient, systematically assesses the patient's physical, psychosocial, emotional, cultural, spiritual and discharge needs.
  • Evaluates the plan of care and reformulates the goals as necessary.
  • Recognizes unsafe and life-threatening situations and intervenes appropriately.

Registered Nurse (RN) Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred
  • Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license or holds a multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within duration of orientation period.
  • Minimum 2 years in ambulatory/outpatient Oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) preferred.
  • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course completed within 3 months of hire.
