Recovery Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital located on 23 hillside acres at 2375 E. Prater Way in Sparks, Nevada.

This Recovery Room Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity is per diem and offers a convenient schedule. Northern Nevada Medical Center is looking for a dynamic Recovery Room Registered Nurse! You will provide direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient populations in the OR arena. You will address the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. This position communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and pain management inventory. Assesses operating room / procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure.

Job duties/responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR (both accomplished in partnership with patient inside room)
  • Demonstrates ability to perform head-to-toe pre-procedure assessment on all patients and reassesses post procedure as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to formulate an individualized plan of care as indicated and evaluates for effectiveness.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
