The Role at a Glance

We are excited to bring on an EDI Onboarding Specialist to join our Group Protection Operations Team supporting Workplace Solutions.


Background Details
The Group Protection Operations Team will help you grow your technical knowledge and establish strong partnerships (internally/externally) while working in this fast-paced environment. 

As an EDI Onboarding Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering on EDI onboarding and implementation assignments & projects. You will support pre- and post-sales activity in providing guidance regarding compatibility of proposed onboarding approach with EDI processes. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate activities, facilitate automated EDI processing, manage and resolve escalated EDI service issues, and provide a superior onboarding experience for the customer. This opportunity will provide the ability to grow within the group insurance industry while gaining new skills and building strong working relationships. What you'll be doing
  • You will maintain knowledge of current and emerging developments and trends in your assigned areas of responsibility, assess their impact, and collaborate with management to incorporate new developments into current and future solutions.
  • You will promote and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and departmental or enterprise-wide efforts within your assigned areas of responsibility.
  • You will perform and deliver on routine assignments and projects while applying knowledge of your assigned areas of responsibility.
  • You will identify and communicate process improvements to management that reduce workloads or improve quality within your assigned areas of responsibility.
  • You will implement inbound file feeds for both new services and ongoing maintenance requests, including demographic/eligibility, EOI, Portability and Conversion, RTN, and other relevant proprietary layouts, and you will handle custom installations and historical insertions as needed.
  • You will act as a liaison between internal EDI resources, other internal teams, and third-party partners to ensure all stakeholders understand optimal policy setup-per EDI guidelines-to support efficient automation and onboarding.
  • You will collaborate with internal EDI resources to test and validate new EDI layouts, systems, and processes.
  • You will participate in calls with brokers and customers and outline the advantages and disadvantages of proposed EDI onboarding approaches.
  • You will coordinate with internal EDI resources and third-party partners to validate required data fields and ensure appropriate file configurations for successful initial and ongoing data transmission and processing.
  • You will work with third-party benefits administration platforms to successfully implement EDI files for eligibility, portability/conversion, EOI, and leave management.
  • You will communicate the status of file processing and implementation with stakeholders throughout the onboarding process and provide postimplementation followup on outstanding issues.
  • You will load test data files into quality software, review upload status reports, and research and resolve issues or errors preventing successful data loading.
  • You will, upon successful test file loading, copy files to the appropriate network location and send confirmation to the client.
  • You will provide file support to installed customers as needed.
  • You will manage and resolve service escalations from internal partners and collaborate with management to deliver effective solutions.
  • You will identify and communicate additional process improvements to management that reduce workloads or improve quality within your assigned areas of responsibility.
  • You will serve as a mentor and technical resource to lesstenured team members when needed.
  • You will act as a testing resource for specific initiatives as required.
What we're looking for

Must-haves:

  • 4 Year/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors) 
  • 1 - 3+ Years of experience in EDI processing and automation directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this role 
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal/written)
  • Demonstrated strong customer service experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions and work with concepts such as averages and/or variances

Application Deadline

Level: 11 

The pay range for this position is $52,500 - $84,000 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
