REPORTING

The Paper Mill Asset Leader will report to the Paper Mill Superintendent.

What you'll do

As the Paper Mill Asset Leader, you will provide leadership and operational oversight for PM5, Stock Preparation, and Export Roll Wrapper/Bailer operations. You will work closely with production, maintenance, reliability, and quality teams to maximize safety, efficiency, asset performance, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities Champion Safety and Environmental Stewardship
  • Lead a culture where safety is the first priority and every employee is empowered to work safely.
  • Drive proactive safety initiatives, observations, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Demonstrate visible leadership that reinforces Kruger Products' commitment to protecting people, assets, and the environment.
Own Operational Performance
  • Deliver production results that meet or exceed quality, volume, efficiency, and cost objectives.
  • Monitor asset performance and take decisive action to address operational challenges.
  • Drive accountability for key performance indicators including safety, quality, reliability, throughput, waste, and cost control.
  • Ensure product quality standards are consistently achieved and customer expectations are exceeded.
Drive Continuous Improvement
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce downtime, enhance reliability, and lower operating costs.
  • Support process optimization initiatives, product trials, and operational improvements that strengthen business performance.
  • Promote a culture of problem-solving, innovation, and data-driven decision making.
Develop People and Build Capability
  • Coach, mentor, and develop operators and team members to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities.
  • Support onboarding, training, standard operating procedures, and best practice development.
  • Foster an environment built on trust, respect, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Lead through engagement, communication, and performance expectations that help individuals and teams succeed.
Lead Reliability and Asset Excellence
  • Partner closely with maintenance and reliability teams to maximize equipment performance.
  • Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are effectively supported.
  • Coordinate operational activities during outages, grade changes, and special projects.
  • Drive execution and accountability to improve long-term equipment reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Experience driving problem-solving, process improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2-5+ years of experience supporting paper manufacturing, tissue converting, or other industrial manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with reliability improvement, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, production processes, and performance measurement tools.
