Lead Generator Technician

Location: Henrico County, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $44-$54 per hour (depending on experience)
Relocation assistance and per diem for travel projects (meals, lodging, and incidental costs).

Job Overview

Managed Generator Services LLC (MGS) is seeking a highly skilled Lead Generator Technician (A-Level) to join our Field Operations team. This is not your average technician role—we're looking for a true leader in the field who can independently diagnose, repair, and maintain generators up to and beyond 2000 kW. If you want to grow your career with a fast-paced, no-nonsense company where your work matters, this is the job for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of engines, electrical systems, and generator controllers.
  • Conduct load bank testing and system commissioning.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Handle emergency repairs and after-hours diagnostics when needed.
  • Support new equipment installations and major repairs.
  • Document work clearly, communicate with the office, and ensure job completion to standard. Mentor junior technicians and lead by example in the field.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on generator service experience required.
  • Master-level knowledge of generator systems, including major brands (Kohler, Generac, Cummins/Onan).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel to out-of-town jobsites.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in diverse field environments.
  • EPA, EGSA, and OEM certifications are a strong plus.
  • Strong time management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
