St. Annโ€™s Community is currently looking for a Per Diem Stationary Engineer for the Irondequoit Campus. The purpose of this position is to operate and maintains the HVAC and mechanical equipment such as: computer controlled energy management systems, air compressors, diesel powered emergency generators, electrical motors, hot water boilers, and steam boilers to provide for utilities supplying heat, light, power, gas and domestic water for St. Annโ€™s Community.

Job Description:

  • Valves and controls on hot water and steam boilers to supply hot water and steam for Laundry, Dietary, and general domestic requirements.
  • Emergency electrical generator systems.
  • Equipment controlling flow of fuel for boilers, fire pumps, and engine-generators.ย 
  • Central air-conditioning units, chillers, refrigeration equipment, and cooling towers.ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Energy management systems.ย 
  • Steam and hot water boilers as load demands.ย ย ย ย 
  • Water in boiler, expansion tanks, and hot water tanks.
  • Water softening equipment.
  • Feed water system.
  • Sump pumps.
  • Sewage lift station operation.
  • Pneumatic control systems.
  • All supply, exhaust, and air-conditioning fans
  • Monitors and records temperature and pressures of operating equipment.
  • Chemical condition of boiler, heating/cooling loop, and cooling tower water, and as necessary, chemically treats water.
  • Maintains power plant equipment to ensure proper working order as determined through diligent preventive maintenance procedures
  • Ensures that the SAH and Heritage boiler rooms and all mechanical spaces are kept neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Paints, cleans, and otherwise maintains floors, equipment, and other such items as directed.
  • Coordinates the accomplishment of goals and expectations set by the Power Plant & Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintains the condition of and ensures the availability of tools, equipment, parts, and materials necessary for repairs, preventive maintenance, and to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the power plant equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, fans, and other assigned equipment, including: Oiling, greasing, and proper lubrication.
  • Changing or adjusting belts and changing air filters as necessary.
  • Checking, adjusting, and tightening bolts, nuts, and hardware as necessary.
  • Performs all other tasks and similar operations as required by the preventative maintenance program.
  • Opens and closes front and rear access doors on fireside of boilers for inspection and repair.ย 
  • Opens and closes hand-holes and manholes of waterside of boiler for inspection and repair.
  • Cleans fireside of boilers by use of powered tube cleaning machine, wire brushing, and vacuuming.
  • Opens and closes end bells of chiller equipment for inspections as necessary.
  • Cleans heat exchangers on chiller equipment by use of powered tube cleaning machine, wire brushing, and power washing equipment.
  • Performs minor maintenance repairs and functions on weekends and during evening and night shift in absence of mechanic.
  • Contacts and directs the on-call maintenance mechanic when deemed necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by manager.ย ย ย 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Up to date CLASS 3 Stationary Engineers License - Required
  • 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training - Required
