Job Description

Team Penske is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to manufacture precision components that support our NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA racing programs. This role involves operating 4- and 5-axis CNC machines, programming, fixture design, and ensuring the highest quality standards in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture parts with 4 and 5-axis CNC machines using industry-standard machining techniques and practices while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Plan machining jobs from work schedules, engineering drawings and CAD.
  • Work independently to set up and prove out jobs. Adjust speeds, feeds, and EIA code as needed while working closely with programing staff.
  • Assemble tools and toolholders and set with presetter.
  • Work independently or with other Machine Shop staff to determine work holding, tool holding, and tools required for jobs.
  • Design and manufacture fixtures and work holding.
  • Anticipate tooling and material needs, check inventory, and place orders with supervisor as needed.
  • Program new parts and modifications of existing parts using Mazatrol as needed.
  • Manufacture parts using conventional machining equipment (manual machines, saws, etc.) and other CNC equipment as required.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing information as per company directive.
  • Maintain safe operations in compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Perform equipment preventative maintenance as per manufacturer’s and Penske Racing’s requirements. When necessary, repair equipment and test operation to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly according to Penske Racing standards.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled work, work overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Take ownership and be personally accountable for your work. Be dependable and professional, act with integrity, work effectively with others, take initiative, and be willing to apply new knowledge and skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school machining program and / or post-secondary technical school training with earned diploma, certificate, or degreenin machining discipline is highly preferred.
  • 5 years minimum experience operating 4 and 5-axis CNC machining centers or mill-turn machines in a prototyping or low volume / high mix environment. Mazak Mazatrol experience is a plus.
  • Able to independently setup, prove out and run CNC machines, edit EIA programs, assemble and set CNC tooling, and manufacture workholding fixtures.
  • Experienced with precision measuring instruments, both digital and analog.
  • Able to read and understand drawings and specifications with a working knowledge of the Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing system (GD&T)
  • Possess knowledge of work holding, tool holding, and cutting tools used in CNC working environment.
  • Possess above average math skills.
  • Possess basic computer skills.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to adapt to frequent change, delays or unexpected events with a positive and constructive attitude.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours due to changing work schedules and demands.
  • Possess strong English communication skills (oral and written) as it relates to the job.
  • Able to produce parts to deadlines, accurate to the print and with a quality finish.
