Overview
East Penn Mfg., a world class leader in lead-acid battery manufacturing is expanding our service network and has an Industrial Service Technician position open at our Waddell Power facility Indianapolis, Indiana. This field technician role requires daily travel to the customers within your Indiana territory and weekly travel to our Indianapolis, IN facility to restock parts and supplies for your service vehicle. You will be assigned a company service vehicle for use during work assignments and customer visits. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, works well independently, and has a customer focused mindset.
Starting hourly wage between $22.00 - $26.00 or more depending on industry experience.
Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the mechanical installation, maintenance and service of industrial batteries, chargers and battery charging equipment at the customer's facility. Someone with excellent mechanical ability, strong electrical knowledge, and good customer service and communication skills is a good candidate.
  • Dealing with customer complaints and down equipment.
  • Travels to customer locations daily.
  • Service territory covers the majority of Indiana, excluding the Northwestern corner and the bottom section South of Washington, IN and Madison, IN.
  • Reports to Service Manager based out of Indianapolis, IN.
  • May require some infrequent overnight travel.
  • Evaluates battery and charging equipment.
  • Must be able to make on-site repairs of batteries and chargers.
  • Must be able to create and maintain documents explaining customer's fleet by type, amp hour, repairs, recommendations, billing, and repairs.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
  • Ability to work mandatory over time.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Management.

Qualifications
Skills: Mechanical ability. Strong electrical background, AC/DC preferred with basic knowledge of 240V three phase and 480V three phase. Strong communication skills and self motivation.
Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidate currently resides in the Greater Indianapolis, Indiana area.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
