Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Appian Developer to provide technical leadership, solution design, and hands-on development support for complex BPM-based applications. This role focuses on designing business logic, process flows, UI screens, and database interactions within Appian while supporting the full software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have strong Appian development experience, solid SQL skills, Agile experience, and the ability to mentor junior developers in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain Appian BPM solutions, including process models, business logic, UI screens, and plug-ins
  • Work closely with Business Analysts to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and validate user story acceptance criteria
  • Review Appian development efforts and sign off on design and implementation
  • Develop SQL queries, update data models, and apply database best practices including indexing, triggers, and data structure design
  • Perform unit testing, debugging, and technical problem resolution
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure proper implementation of fixes, testing, and configuration management
  • Manage daily work within Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo
  • Partner with DevOps team members to support timely and reliable releases to the customer
  • Ensure applications maintain data integrity, security, and best-practice standards
  • Mentor junior BPM developers and support team capability growth
  • Provide technical, managerial, and administrative direction for highly complex systems and business process solutions

Qualifications:
  • Appian software development experience
  • Experience with BPM platforms such as Appian, JBoss BPMS, Activiti, Oracle BPM, IBM BPM, or Pega
  • Current Appian Associate Developer or Senior Developer certification
  • Experience using Appian add-on tools such as Expression Unit Tests, Deployment Automation Manager, FitNesse, SAIL UI, or Smart Services
  • Experience with Appian 7.x and/or 20.x design and implementation
  • Ability to translate software requirements into Appian applications and prototypes
  • Strong SQL and database development skills
  • Understanding of web development and design languages
  • Hands-on experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
