Nation Outside is hiring in Jackson and Hillsdale Counties!

Position: Trauma-Informed Peer Navigator

Program: Region 9 Offender Success Reentry Case Management

Pay: $21.50 per hour

Schedule: Part-time


Service area: Jackson and Hillsdale Counties, Michigan

The Trauma-Informed Peer Navigator will provide dignity-centered case management and resource coordination to people returning to their communities after incarceration. This position will help participants work toward successful parole completion and long-term stability.


Responsibilities include:

  • Employment and job-readiness support
  • Housing navigation and property inspections
  • Connections to transportation, identification, clothing, work supplies, public benefits, and other resources
  • Landlord engagement and relationship-building
  • Case notes, service documentation, and outcome tracking
  • Coordination with participants, field agents, employers, landlords, and community partners
  • Facilitation of pro-social activities at housing sites

  • Lived experience is central to this position. Applicants must:

    • Be formerly incarcerated or have a conviction
    • Have successfully completed probation or parole and no longer be under MDOC supervision
    • Have a high school diploma or GED
    • Have a valid driverโ€™s license, car insurance, and consistent access to a reliable vehicle
    • Be able to travel regularly throughout Jackson and Hillsdale Counties

    Knowledge of local resources and experience with employment support, housing navigation, public benefits, or barrier removal are strongly valued.
