SummaryWe are seeking a full-time Coder to join us at PM Pediatrics. As Medical Coder you will possess knowledge of EMR, practice management systems and coding compliance, strong competency with charge entry (CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10) and will be working closely with not only the billing department but also with the Senior Coder. Experience working denials and authorizations, and with insurance carriers (Medicaid HMO's and Commercial carries) and understanding payer guidelines.Description

  • Review and bill current claims within timely filing limits

  • Analyze records to code all appropriate International Classification of Disease (ICD 9/10) and/or Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding for billing of insurance carries

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of insurance filing and relationship to ICD 9/10 and CPT coding conventions

  • Review medical record documentation to identify all services provided by physicians

  • Post both insurance and patient payments

  • Research charge processing and coding issues; review classification situations to determine the most appropriate codes

  • Work accounts in a timely and accurate manner, performing quality assurance for charges

  • Follow-up on open claims

  • Heavy patient call volume

  • Enter/Correct patient demographics

  • Respond to patient inquiries

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Required

  • Prior medical billing and healthcare insurance knowledge preferred

  • Intermediate MS Word, Excel, Google necessary

  • Knowledge of eCW and/or Docutap preferred

  • Solid understanding of insurance fee schedules and their impacts on billing and collection

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Team-Worker: Ability to work well and communicate with others while maintaining a positive attitude

  • Must hold CPC License
