Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Manages Gas Acquisition Team personnel in the Gas Supply and Transportation unit responsible for analyzing gas requirements, purchasing short and long-term gas supplies, and scheduling gas for Market Based Rates (MBR) and Off System Sales (OSS) program customers. Oversees analyses of seasonal capacity plans and identifies excess capacity available for OSS or Capacity Release (CR) programs. Responsible for above the line revenue and margin growth in the Off System Sales program and/or Merchant Service Programs (MBR, OSS, CR) and/or achieving the Minority and Women owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) procurement percentage target. Assists the Manager, Gas Supply and Transportation with the preparation of testimony and data responses in the Case 9500 series MBR annual reviews and/or annual 1307(f)filing. Coordinates gas purchase reporting to ensure the proper journalizing of gas supply costs and margins by Accounting for the monthly close. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manage activities of the Gas Acquisition Team using leadership skills and an in-depth working knowledge of the gas supply portfolio and contracted services on the interstate pipelines. Leads the team in achieving the annual Merchant Service Program Goal and MWBE procurement percentage for Gas Supply and Transportation. (60%)
Manage the preparation and distribution of analyses related to short and long-term interstate gas pipeline capacity and gas supply planning. Advises on strategic decisions related to storage injection and withdrawal plans, storage asset management, and peak shaving utilization. (20%)
Assist in the preparation of testimony and responses to data requests in regulatory proceedings. (10%)
Fosters development and coaching for employees and provides timely feedback regarding groups and individual performance. Provide absence/vacation relief for unit manager. (10%)
Job Scope
JOB SCOPE
Day to day supervisory responsibilities are direct, administrative, or functional in nature, and typically involves the management of the Gas Acquisition team consisting of Senior Gas Supply and Transportation Analyst(s) assisting with gas purchases and sales, Gas Supply Coordinator(s) nominating and scheduling daily, monthly and seasonal gas supplies. May also oversee a Senior Engineer involved in gas capacity planning and interstate gas supply analyses.
Acts as the Gas Supply and Transportation unit's subject matter expert with respect to daily interstate gas pipeline services and operations impacting gas supply. Has and maintains an in-depth knowledge of gas commodity markets in our supply basins and physical trading techniques. Ensures that least cost MBR supply consistent with reliability is achieved to meet Merchant Service Program Goals.
Work involves communicating with and influencing internal and external contacts, including contacts with senior managers, numerous internal departments, customers, suppliers, and interstate pipeline organizations, which require satisfactory disposition, ability to adjust, adroitness in selecting appropriate courses of action, and diplomacy. Cooperation, tact, excellent judgment, and persuasiveness are essential to assure a positive affect on the Company's image and/or business.
